Mandatory asbestos certificate
An asbestos certificate contains information about asbestos in the building. It describes which materials or parts of a building contain asbestos and the condition of the asbestos. It also provides advice on how to manage or remove asbestos safely.
Since 23 November 2022, it is mandatory to present an asbestos certificate when selling buildings built before 2001.
If you wish to sell an apartment after 1 May 2025, you will have to be able to present two different asbestos certificates: one for your own apartment and one for the common parts.
At present, an asbestos certificate is only compulsory when selling buildings built before 2001. From 2032, an asbestos certificate will be mandatory for every building built before 2001, even if you are not going to sell it.
